5th International Friendship Seminar 2014 in Singapore

Is the 2nd time this even was held in Singapore. Is always happy that we are so lucky in Johor Bahru to be able to travel to attend Aikido event, cause is the nearest place for us here. Aikikai Aikido in Johor Bahru is very young, especially Hibana Bushidoo. Hibana Bushidoo was in Johor Bahru for 4 years now. Our aikido group is small, yet we are always trying our best to work and train as a family. Is also the 1st time group from UK (White Rose Aikikai) and Canada coming over to Johor Bahru for a one day trip and Aikido class. The group was lead by Obata Shihan and Shane Riley Shihan. We arranged a Malay Lunch Buffet together with a traditional Malay dance show, follow up by the batik factory visit etc, The training area for the night was a very special area, KSL Hotel dinosaur park arrange by Mr KL Ku. The guest was very happy to be able to train in that area, 1st time for everyone here to be able to train with dinosaur :) Without taking too much i think is the best to show some photo here, and also link to the photo in facebook for 5th IFS seminar.

Gunung Lambak Climbing trip 2014

This is our 1st Gunung Lambak trip as an Aikido group. We have a wonderful time there. We gather at Hibana Bushidoo HQ in Taman Daya in the morning and set for Kluang. Is my 1st time mountain climbing, and 1st time as a group to go there. My student he say after so many years of studying and staying there, Is the 1st time he manage to climb to the mountain top. Is a challenging trip, we can feel as a family, where we take care of each other, make sure everyone is safe and sound during the trip. 1 to lead in front, the strongest will stay behind to follow and guide the one lagging behind. There is a group of people who provides breakfast for everyone who climb up the mountain everyday. Hopefully we will have another trip again, I'm sure all my students and friends hope for the next visit again :)

Gifted or Hardworking?

There are always a time where we compared with our friends during school's day or even in working life etc. Some are really gifted in things they do, like wise the same things also happen in my Aikido class. Some students just happen to pick up the movement more easily then others, where others took a longer them in learning. So some of the students might feel pressure when their juinor that join later then them but train with better result compare with them :) Those senior sometime forgotten that their juinor did really spent a lot of them training, looking at veido, searching for information about Aikido etc.

I remember my instructor use to say about me. "You are not gifted like him, but what make your outstanding is because of your passion and hardworking." Don't under estimate yourself in your training, there are things you can't do well, but there are things you can do better also. For those who already reach certain level of training, may it be Kyu grade or Dan grade, don't forget there is always someone going to climb over you one day. Actually that is a good progess also, humble and hardwork will bring you to the top of Mount Fuji. Some might take a longer way, some shorter way to the top, but for those who always think their ideal is correct yet they stop training..... i might say gifted in your own way but yet you stop.... sorry you will never make it to the submit we are heading for one day. Correct maybe we will never make it to see the sun rise of Mount Fuji due to our training concept and ideal also, yet we never stop, our hearts already reaches there :) As for me martial art training doesn't only mean skill in techinque, how many people you can defend or defeat with, even doing nothing phyiscal for few years is also consider a kind of training, if you bring Aikido into your life, your training become everything you see and do :)

Even we are not as good as other say in turn of whatever technique, skill, understanding, Ki etc, but our hardwork always give us smile and laughter in the dojo.

Is a new 2014 for Hibana Bushidoo Aikido

Is already year 2014, everything look the same. Is going to be end of Feburary soon, so what have we done for this new coming year? We manage to sent some students together with me to attend Shimamoto Shihan Seminar organize by Aikido Shinju-kai recently. Is always nice to bring students together for training. The relationship between the students and teacher is getting closer everyday :) and i'm happy about it.

Is a new year, some changes have been made, we no longer give Aikido for kids age between 4-6 for this year, as my time are getting limited. We are experiencing a new group of students coming in as usal so does a group of students will be leaving us for further study by the end of this year. Is getting normal for us, students that train for few years need to leave us due to study and working. Yet i'm always happily waiting for their return somedays, thou we know most of them will not come back to the dojo again :)

Hopefully this year we will work harder, train more and be happy. The dojo is always a place we call home :)

Aikido Shinju-kai 25th Anniversay

https://www.facebook.com/events/555041461197931/

9th November 2013 is Aikido Shinju-kai 25th Anniversary, my 1st time attending Aikido Shinju-kai big seminar was in 2008, Aikido Shinju-kai 20th Anniversary. During this event we met a lot of aikidoka, and learn a lot of things, i still remember i was only a 2nd kyu and we are doing our 1st public Aikido demo representing Aikido Shinju-kai Malaysia.

So fast another 5 years have pass by, those who are doing our 1st public demo was no longer with us. The road in Aikido here in JB is not easy, especially the amount of helper and instructors are not enough, but we do hang on. :) Trying my best to ask my students to attend this big event with me, thou i know is a bit hard. But hopefully i can hear someone come out to me and say "Instructor Bryan i hope to go with you this time"

I think that will be the most happy things i hope to hear this year, thou i know some of our old friends here is going for the event, but i really hope those new friends and new students can join us, is a every 5 year event, the root that bring Aikikai Aikido to JB we should try our best to preserve it.

Hope to see more new friends on that days, and of cause will be happy to see my old friends there also :)

Different Style of Aikido?

Aikido, the martial art that respent "The way of Harmony in Life" or some say "The moving Zen" or to some "Real Budo" Meaning of what Aikido represent in basic; Ai : Harmony, Ki : Breathing, Do : The way of life

Aikido created by Morihei Ueshiba 1883-1969 who we always him call O-sensei, those who train and learn Aikido found it interesting as it train our mental, health, peace etc. Later more style of Aikido was born after the pass away of O-sensei, yet some of the new students or outside will be wondering which style of Aikido is the best? Actually in Aikido we have no form, there is always no right or wrong style, if you can move around following the flow you are already preforming Aikido.

So there is no right or wrong, no best or wrost style in Aikido, it is how every founder of their own school understand O-sensei ideal and their own concept creating their own style of Aikido which make us enjoy so much in the dojo. Is also the ideal and the need of what the students want for them to chose which style of aikido they like. Below i will post some clip of different Aikido style, all by famous master students of O-sensei :) Hope you enjoy the clip, eventually we are all a big Aikido family no matter what kind of style we learn :)
